Translations:Essays:Why the FSF does not consider Debian as a free distribution/148/en
While waiting for the release of Debian 11 "Bullseye" (which, by the way, took place on August 14th), I decided to start work on a series of articles dedicated to this distribution. According to the idea, each article in this series should reveal one or another feature of Debian to spur your interest in it. And here the main goal is not so much to "sell" this distribution to you, as to help you better understand GNU/Linux in general, and studying various aspects of Debian just contributes to this. I would like to open this series with an article dedicated to one of the key aspects, namely freedom. We will talk here about how this fundamental concept can be interpreted in different ways and what price you have to pay to remain free. Let's get started.
